Fill dirt is a dense, inorganic subsoil sourced from beneath the topsoil layer (usually six or more inches deep). It contains little to no organic matter or nutrients, allowing it to compact tightly without decomposing or settling over time. It is primarily used for structural and grading projects.
Common Uses
Leveling ground: Filling in holes, low spots, or uneven parts of a yard.
Elevation changes: Raising the grade or contour of a property.
Construction support: Creating a stable, load-bearing base under foundations, driveways, or patios.
Backfilling: Filling trenches or spaces behind retaining walls and around house foundations.
